Create a child care schedule of up to 10 hours per day and up to 45 hours per week. With an au pair living in your home, dealing with sick days, snow days and life’s little surprises has never been easier.
We offer three unique program options. Whether your children are infants or school-aged, Au Pair in America has the solution for your family.
We make it easy to find the perfect au pair for your family! Access au pairs from nearly 60 countries with our online search feature and placement experts.
Au pairs must pass an in-person interview, reference checks, medical reports, English-language assessment and a background check.
Our orientation program focuses on keeping children safe. Au pairs receive specialized training in topics including child development, household safety and U.S. driving laws.
Your family is assigned a local, professional community counselor (not a volunteer or contractor – an employee of APIA) to provide ongoing support.
“It has been an honor watching my au pair grow as a person over the last 16 months. She has been our calm in the storm, a true partner in raising teenagers, and she brings an energy to our home that we did not know we needed and cannot imagine living without. She will always be a part of our story.”

“Our au pair came to our door day-one with a plan for how to tutor and a school our girls. Over the course of the year she has grown their knowledge significantly in alphabet, writing, drawing, Spanish, singing, emotional self-expression, and home economics. Our kids went from being a concern in readiness to enter preschool to being more than capable when they began pre-school in the fall. They would not be where they are today without her.”

“When our au pair first arrived, she told us everyone loves her. It seemed like such an odd comment, and we all had a good laugh about it. In time, though, we learned it is, indeed, true. In her, my three sons have a swimming coach, soccer competitor, friend with whom to play endless rounds of board games, and so much more.”
