For over 30 years, Au Pair in America has placed more than 110,000 au pairs with families like yours.
Create your own child care schedule of up to 10 hours per day and up to 45 hours per week. By having your child care provider living in your home, dealing with sick days, snow days and life’s little surprises has never been easier.
A one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for child care. That’s why we offer three unique program options to meet your family’s needs. Whether your children are infants or school-aged, Au Pair in America has the solution for your family.
With our user-friendly online search feature and placement experts, we make it easy to find the perfect au pair for your family. Plus, you’ll have access to the largest pool of au pairs in the world – our au pairs hail from nearly 60 countries across 5 continents.
Our extensive three-tiered screening process includes an in-person interview, reference checks, medical reports, English-language assessment, personality assessment, and a criminal background check.
Your au pair will receive specialized training on topics including child development, household safety and U.S. driving laws. Our orientation program combines readings, videos, quizzes and live training sessions – all focused on keeping children safe.
We support your family every step of the way. Every family is assigned a local, professional community counselor who is an employee of APIA – not a volunteer or contractor – to provide ongoing support to you and your au pair.
With Au Pair in America, your family will receive more than just great child care. Your children will have an opportunity to receive a global education, learning about the world and your au pair’s culture and customs.
“You can not beat the flexibility of the Au Pair program. My au pairs have been so great that my friends want to steal them and take them home!”
- Catherine Dunsby, host parent Connecticut
“I am a woman who just landed a big promotion. I knew I would need flexible childcare when I took the job and also, as a first-generation American, I value cultural exchanges. I want my children to have a broad sense of the world. I would not be able to work without my au pair. My husband and I both have demanding jobs and live far away from family. Having an au pair has allowed me to continue to lead my staff through a challenging time without having to worry about my childcare.”
— Host Family from Holliston, MA
“We are a military family with a toddler, another baby on the way, and coping with parental absences due to active duty demands. If we did not have an au pair, I would not be able to continue working. The only reason we are able to maintain any semblance of normalcy is because we have an au pair.”
